Au bout de trois ans de construction, voici ce que je possède : un dossier de fichiers texte. Dedans, il y a un site web complet, un journal intime, mes documents de recherche, la gestion de mes projets, et les notes de quinze ans de photographie. À côté, un autre dossier avec des photos et des fichiers texte qui les décrivent. C'est tout. Il n'y a rien d'autre.
I've built three systems in the past two years. A modular web framework that runs three websites. A lighting system that gives my home a daily rhythm. And a wooden cube that lets a four-year-old who can't read choose his own bedtime story. They look nothing alike. One is TypeScript, one is YAML, one is a Zigbee sensor and a sticker. But they run on the same idea.
This is not a build log. The greenhouse doesn't exist yet. It's the document I wrote before buying anything, because the most expensive mistakes in a physical project are made in the first hour — and because I've come to think that designing in public, before it works, is more useful than the polished write-up afterward.
