3.1 Command Palette Lexicon
Standard Garden features a keyboard-first command system (called The Gate or The Launcher) inspired by professional developer tooling and terminal craft. Type :: followed by a command name to access features, themes, and navigation instantly.
1. Accessing the Gate
Open the command palette in any of the following ways:
- Press
Cmd+K(macOS) orCtrl+K(Windows / Linux). - Click the
::command trigger button in the upper header. - Type
::anywhere while browsing the garden. - Click any inline
::commandlink in these docs to open the palette pre-filled.
2. Navigation Commands
Navigate across the garden’s public clearings at the speed of thought:
::home— Return to the garden’s homepage.::mycelium— Open the Mycelium exploration view to wander connections between notes.::daily— Visit the daily communal Bloom.::random— Serendipitous jump to a random public note.::guide— Open the official operating manual (you are here).::standard— View the Standard Garden manifesto and foundations.
3. Intelligence & Assistance (Hyphe)
Converse with your notes through the garden’s dedicated intelligence:
::ask— Open Hyphe to search semantically and ask questions answered strictly from your notes.::hyphe— Direct shortcut to initiate an inquiry with Hyphe.
4. Theme & Atmosphere Commands
Switch color modes and atmospheric personalities on the fly. All themes dynamically support light and dark substrates:

::light— Enforce the light color substrate.::dark— Enforce the dark color substrate.::auto— Follow your operating system’s light/dark appearance preference.

5. Editor & Note Management Commands
When viewing or writing notes, context-aware commands appear automatically:
::new— Open the web writer to draft a new note.::cite(or::quote) — Create a new note that immediately cites and links to the note currently in view.::edit— Open the current note in the editor.::delete— Permanently remove the current note (with confirmation).::copy— Copy the permanent short link (stnd.gd/...) to your clipboard.::copy-content— Copy the raw Markdown source of the active note.::export— Download the current note as a clean.mdfile.::export-with-attachments— Export the note and all attached media as a bundled ZIP archive.::my-notes— Open the note management dashboard to review, open, or purge your published notes.
6. Identity & Session Commands
::login— Initiate passwordless email authentication or biometric passkey sign-in.::logout— Terminate your current session and return to guest mode.::profile— Jump directly to your personal gardener address (/@username).::api— View, copy, or rotate your personal API key (sg_…) for Obsidian and CLI publishing.
